Club Rules
General Rules
All racers, club members or not, are expected to abide by the rules as set out below
- Please be courteous and respectful of other users of the facilities. The club does not tolerate violence or threatening behaviour. Any person found to be acting in a violent or threatening way will be asked to leave by the Management Committee. Race fees will not be refunded.
- Always use the Rostrum provided when running your vehicle.
- BRCA membership is a requirement for anyone running vehicles or entering any track. Visitors who are participating in a race day will be granted access for 3 race meetings, after which BRCA membership is compulsory. BRCA membership will be checked upon Raceday registration. Visitors who are not competing in a race event will not be permitted access to the track or pit lane.
- Hi-Viz jackets to be worn as directed by the race director. This is required in the pit lane and when out on the track. Hi-Viz clothing will not be supplied by the club. This is mandatory PPE. Anyone without a Hi-Viz will not be allowed to race due to the inability to marshal after their race.
- The club recommends the use of work gloves when marshalling to protect your hands.
- Protective glasses to be worn when using the compressor to clean vehicles.
- Please do not run any Radio-Controlled vehicles in the field/car park.
- Please leave the club as you found it. Please take all rubbish/recycling away with you.
- Do not dispose of Lithium batteries on site. Please take these away with you and recycle correctly.
- Smoking and Vaping is prohibited in the following areas
- Pit Lane
- Indoor areas (race control)
- Rostrum
- Children under the age of 16 are not to be left unattended. It is the responsibility of the Parent or Guardian to ensure the safety of their child while attending any RCNI event. RCNI and the Management Committee cannot be held responsible for the child’s safety or wellbeing.
- RCNI is not responsible for any loss or damage to the racer’s equipment or personal injury, no matter how caused. For details of Public Liability Insurance, refer to the appropriate section in the current BRCA handbook.
Racing
- BRCA membership is required by all members. Without BRCA insurance racing will be denied to this individual. All BRCA memberships will be verified at registration to any event. Visitors will be allowed to race for 3 meetings without Club and BRCA membership. After these 3 races individuals will be required to join the club and the BRCA.
- All racers are responsible to ensure their car is legal according to the BRCA standards. At any point, random spot checks may be carried out and if a vehicle is found to be illegal, the racers will forfeit the previous round of racing. Details of legality can be found in the BRCA handbook.
- All members that enter track boundaries including the pit lane require BRCA insurance.
- All radios should be based on the 2.4Ghz frequency. Any older radios that require crystals should have at least 3 sets to change should interference become an issue and a failsafe should be fitted.
- All drivers must marshal after their race. Failure to do so will cause fastest qualifying time to be removed or result to be removed from a final.
- Races will consist of drivers sorted into qualifying heats. This sorting will be based on estimated racing ability. Should race attendance numbers become an issue, we will attempt to sort to the best of our ability.
- In the event of over subscription of a race event, entries will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
- All racers will be required to purchase a personal transponder to allow the counting of laps and times.
- Nitro and Electric buggies will run together. Clubman class will run separate to the open class. This may change at any point during the racing season should the Management Committee see fit. This will be discussed with the members who this rule will impact prior to any changes.
- All Electric buggy’s during a final will have simulated pit stops to align with all nitro cars. The duration of the pitstop will be instructed by the race director and the frequency of pit stops will also be instructed by the race director.

Racing Etiquette
- When racing in a qualifying event, if another car is faster than you, move off the racing line and allow it to pass. During qualification, race position is based on number of laps completed within the length of the qualification round.
- When racing in a qualifying event, if you come up on a slower car, give the driver an opportunity to move off the racing line.
- When racing in a final event, cars are racing for position from the start. If you are racing a car on the same lap you are entitled to protect your position. This essentially is driving defensively. If the other car gets past the front of yours, then they have the place and you should give space. All overtaking moves must be carried out cleanly. Any aggressive overtakes that forces another car off the track will be assessed and penalised accordingly. Should any overtaking cause the other car to go off track or require marshalling, the overtaking car at fault must wait and give the position back. Failure to do this will result in a penalty.
- Current race season will be based on 10 rounds, with 7 to count towards final championship standing.
